The Kalamazoo State Theatre is partnering with Chef Andrew of WMU Dining Services to conquer Downtown Kalamazoo’s Annual Chili Cook-Off is a FREE community event from 11:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, January 27.
Our musical guest this year will be none other than Payton and Annabelle.
Stepping into the warm and welcoming ambiance of the Kalamazoo State Theatre, the aromatic symphony of the Bronco Stampede Chili prepared by Chef Andrew of WMU Dining Services for the Downtown Kalamazoo Chili Cook-Off 2024 beckons. Imagine a hearty bowl of chili that’s a true labor of love, featuring tender pork carnitas that have been slow-cooked to perfection, melding with the smoky sweetness of fire-roasted corn. Each spoonful is a complex layering of flavors – the robust earthiness of black beans, the vibrant kick from fresh jalapeños and habaneros, all simmered in a rich, savory base thickened with a traditional roux.
The Bronco Stampede Chili is more than a dish; it’s a celebration of community, a testament to the vibrant flavors that characterize West Michigan’s spirit. Join us for a taste adventure that’s as rich in history as the theatre itself. This is not just a meal; it’s an experience that will linger on your palate and in your memories, long after the last bite.
For 19 years, this annual tradition has been a community-favorite event to explore downtown, sample chili recipes, and visit new and familiar stores and restaurants.
Don’t forget to purchase this year’s commemorative spoon. It’s good for the environment and helps support events just like this!
