Downtown Kalamazoo Salsa Cook-Off: 11:00am – 2:00pm ET
We are teaming up with Buen Provecho and M.I. Gente Radio for this years’ Downtown Kalamazoo Salsa Cook-Off!
Join us from some delicious salsa and chips from Buen Provecho, live music, great drinks and patio seating for after the event!
Rene Meave will be performing from the marquee from 11AM-2PM!
Rene was born and raised in Weslaco, Texas. He came to Michigan as a migrant farm-worker. He is a founding member of the Tex-Mex musical group Los Bandits de MIchigan. He is a song writer/entertainer recognized by the American Song Festival and BMI Song Festival. Rene currently has signed songs with Sony ATV and Next Number One Publishing both out of Nashville, Tennessee
Rene’ was instrumental in the discovery of Warner Bros recording artist Frankie Ballard and helped him obtain a national recording contract. He is a co-founder of the Chilipeppers Songwriting Club. Past solo recordings include “A Man In Love, Eight Miles from the Borderline and Jenny’s Gone, an Artprize 2014 entry.” The single song, “Riding Mustangs” was an Artprize 2015 entry as well.
The 7th annual Salsa Cook-Off kicks off Summer Restaurant Week in Downtown Kalamazoo so get your taste buds primed with the taste of summer salsas. It’s your chance to explore Downtown, sampling our best salsa recipes, and vote for your favorite, all while visiting new and familiar shops and restaurants. This event is free and open to the public.
