It’s back by popular demand! Join us outside the historic Kalamazoo State Theatre for State on the Street Presented by Honor Credit Union! We’ll have free live music from our iconic marquee, drink specials, giveaways from our Honor Credit Union and more! We are also pleased to have visual artist Stephanie Clark’s artwork displayed as part of Art Hop in Downtown Kalamazoo!
About Blue Veins
Blue Veins is a local blues act from Kalamazoo, Michigan. The trio consists of Marisa Aguirre on guitar and vocals, Sean Duross on bass, and Erik Sebastian on drums. Fans of the electric Chicago blues style, the band represented Kalamazoo at the International Blues Challenge in Memphis, Tennessee in 2018. You may have caught Blue Veins at one of their many appearances at the Kalamazoo Bluesfest or at various blues jams they’ve hosted throughout the Kalamazoo area.
About Stephanie Clark
Stephanie Clark is a self-taught artist that was born and raised in Grand Rapids, Michigan. Her art is heavily influenced by her life-long intrigue of the natural world, and formal education as an ecologist. Stephanie graduated with a B.S. in Biology from Aquinas College in 2018 and is currently pursuing a PhD in Ecology at Michigan State University.
Growing up, Stephanie was inspired by artists such as M.C. Escher, Georgia O’Keeffe, and Salvador Dali. Though she continues to study and glean knowledge from these artists, she currently finds inspiration from field guides and children’s nature books.
Stephanie’s artwork visualizes interactions between species in a unique and colorful fashion. With so many insect, plant, and animal species disappearing in the face of climate change, she hopes that viewers can experience how fascinating these organisms are through her work. In a constantly changing world, Stephanie aspires to bring nature to viewers no matter where they may be.
